While many people around me are rushing headlong into the holiday season, I’ve been taking things a bit slower. My early Christmas gift came in the form of knee replacement surgery, and I am now in recovery. And it truly is a gift – this surgery has been much anticipated and will improve my quality of life. But to be honest, the recovery has been slower than I hoped. It can be challenging to keep my spirits up and my eye on my active life on the other side of healing. Thankfully, I have a solid support system around me and a deeply rooted belief in the power of self-healing.
We all possess this power to heal ourselves. We are equipped with a toolbox of strategies to implement during times of recovery. Here are some of the tools you can use to manifest a return to health:
- Use peaceful self-talk regarding your condition. Shift away from words such as “struggling,” “fighting,” and “battling,” and instead use positive phrases such as “I am in the process of healing” or “I am multiplying good health.”
- Be clear and specific about what you desire. “I want to feel better” is vague. “I choose to be able to hike with my family this summer” is specific.
- Practice gratitude daily. Journaling or simply expressing specific things you are grateful for helps you focus on the recovery you have achieved so far.
- Take intentional action. Be clear on the steps you need to take to heal and have a strategy for implementing them. If your recovery requires certain exercises or a specific diet, do not leave these things to chance!
- Visualize your healthy self. The image you focus on may not be who you once were but who you are becoming. Create a vision board of activities you will return to and other things you look forward to.
While I wish you all are in a season of health, I know the reality is that some of you are facing some physical challenges. Know that you possess the strength to heal. If you want to learn more about manifesting healing, please reach out. I’d love to speak with you.
